3 badly injured after single-car crash in New York

Three men were critically injured in the Bulls Head neighborhood of Staten Island when the driver of a 2001 Honda CR-V crashed his vehicle into a tree at around 3 a.m. on July 27, according to a spokesman for the NYPD. As shown in pictures of the accident scene, the front side of the red Honda was smashed in after it flipped vertically onto its grill. Firefighters reportedly used a Hurst tool to extract three men from the vehicle, which was pinned against the tree.

New York woman charged in fatal car accident

A 55-year-old woman was killed and several others were injured when a woman lost control of her vehicle while going westbound on Randall Crossing Road. The woman reportedly failed to negotiate a curve, hit some railroad tracks and came back into traffic on State Route 14 in Milo. According to police, the woman was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash and was charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated.

GlobalFoundries restarts construction after fatal accident

GlobalFoundries has resumed construction of its New York manufacturing plant as of July 1. Work had been halted since June 26, when a 54-year-old subcontractor died in a construction accident at the facility. The man was an employee of John Danforth Construction and had been working with five other men to install an industrial air exchanger when he suffered fatal injuries.

New York crash on major freeway kills woman

On June 27, a 62-year-old woman died from injuries she suffered in a chain-reaction collision involving three cars on I-90 in Tyre, Seneca County. Two people involved in the fatal auto accident reported no injuries; however, a 72-year-old man involved was hospitalized for serious injuries.
