One individual died and four Bronx residents were seriously harmed after a two-vehicle accident in Delaware County, New York, on Aug. 21. The head-on car accident occurred around 10:00 a.m. on Cat Hollow Road in Colchester.
According to the local sheriff's office, a 48-year-old Ninevah man was driving an Isuzu Amigo south when it was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 30-year-old woman. Accident investigators said the Jeep was traveling against traffic in the southbound lane when the collision happened. The driver of the Isuzu was pronounced dead at the scene, and he was the sole occupant of that vehicle
The four women in the SUV range in age from 19 to 34. All were transferred to Westchester Medical Center after having been initially hospitalized at a hospital in Liberty. The driver of the Jeep had not been criminally charged as of the day after the crash, but the investigation by the Delaware County Sheriff's Office and an accident reconstruction team from New York State Police was still ongoing at that time.
When a loved one dies in a motor-vehicle accident, it can be difficult for the victim's surviving family members both emotionally and financially. Grief can be compounded by expenses that stem from medical bills incurred by the decedent prior to his or her death, funeral and burial costs and the loss of that person's income. For families facing such circumstances, a wrongful death lawsuit could lead to financial security. A personal injury attorney experienced with wrongful death lawsuits could allow those families to recover damages for the economic harm caused to them by the passing of their loved ones.
